Privacy Policy
The Cebu Retiree · ceburetiree.com
In plain English: We collect information when you choose to give it to us. We use it to deliver your result, emails, purchase, support, or Service Plan. We never sell personal data. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Our first-party funnel events contain an action and page, not your email or quiz answers.
Who we are
The Cebu Retiree publishes educational information and arranges hands-on help for people considering retirement in Cebu, Philippines. This policy covers ceburetiree.com, our emails, and service enquiries.
What we collect, and why
- Email and name. We collect these when you subscribe, unlock the extended map preview, submit the quiz result form, contact us, buy a digital product, or ask about a service. We use them to provide what you requested and to reply.
- Quiz and form answers. The quiz can include budget, health-planning, household, timing, and relocation preferences. We use these answers to calculate and deliver the result, personalize the welcome letters, and identify a request that may need a human reply.
- Service information. If you request hands-on help, we may collect travel dates, housing criteria, document checklists, contact details, and other information needed to prepare and perform the written Service Plan.
- Purchase and payment records. Payment providers collect the information needed to process payment. We receive order or payment status and basic customer details, but we do not receive or store full card numbers.
- Support messages. We keep the information you send so we can answer and maintain a record of what was agreed.
- Basic analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and performance without setting analytics cookies or collecting personal data.
- Optional journey analytics. If you choose “Allow anonymous analytics,” our first-party endpoint records a random browser ID, a random tab-session ID, page path, broad source category, button actions, scroll milestones, coarse click position, and time spent on page sections. It is designed not to receive email addresses, names, payment details, quiz answers, typed text, or form contents. We do not record or replay your screen.
Browser storage and your privacy choices
We use a small amount of browser storage for features you request, such as remembering a quiz result, map access, map onboarding, or your privacy choice. These are not advertising profiles.
Individual journey analytics are on by default, and you can switch them off at any time through Privacy choices in the footer. If you are visiting from the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland we ask first instead, and nothing is stored until you allow it. Either way the decision is yours and it is never buried: choosing Essential only stops future journey events and removes the analytics identifiers from that browser.
While journey analytics are on, cr_visitor keeps a random identifier for up to 90 days; cr_session, cr_source, and cr_seq last only for the current browser tab. The preference itself is remembered for up to 180 days so we do not ask again on every visit.
Our server log
Separately from anything stored in your browser, our server keeps an ordinary request log: the page requested, the country and network your request came from, the site that referred you, your browser’s user-agent line, and the response code. Every web server keeps a log like this, nothing is written to your device for it, and we use it to tell real readers apart from automated traffic — in July 2026 it turned out that most of what looked like search visitors were bots.
Cloudflare Analytics Engine keeps both the journey events and the server log for up to three months. We use them only to produce website statistics and improve the site, never to target advertising and never to make decisions about a particular visitor.
How the email series works
When you request The Cebu Letter or submit a quiz result, Kit records the subscription and sends Letter 1. Our Cloudflare email worker schedules Letters 2 through 8 on days 2, 4, 7, 10, 13, 17, and 21. Every letter contains an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops later marketing letters.
Human notifications
Quiz leads, contact messages, service applications, and digital sale notifications may be sent privately to the operator through Telegram so a real person can follow up. A quiz lead notification can contain the email and quiz answers submitted. These messages are for internal operations, not a public group or advertising audience.
Providers we use
- Tally — hosts forms and quizzes.
- Kit — stores subscribers and sends email.
- Cloudflare — hosts the site, runs our Pages Functions and email worker, and provides analytics.
- Telegram — delivers private operational notifications to the operator.
- Lemon Squeezy — merchant of record and payment/delivery provider for digital products.
- Wise — sends and processes payment requests for hands-on services.
Each provider processes information under its own privacy and security terms. We share only what is reasonably needed for that provider’s job.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data, rent email lists, or add people to unrelated marketing. We do not store full payment-card numbers. We do not use our first-party funnel endpoint to record form answers or personally identifying text.
Retention and location
We operate from the Philippines and use providers that process data in other countries, including the United States and Europe. We keep information while it is needed to deliver the requested product or service, support a client, meet accounting or legal requirements, or maintain reasonable business records. We delete or anonymize it when it is no longer needed where practical.
Your choices
- Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Email us to ask what personal information we hold, or to request correction or deletion, subject to records we must keep by law.
- You can browse the main site and the first three map profiles without giving us an email.
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
