The Cebu Retiree · ceburetiree.com

In plain English: We live in Cebu and we publish what we see on the ground. We are not lawyers, accountants, doctors, or immigration officers. Our numbers were checked when we published them, and they will change. Before you sign a lease, file for a visa, or move money, confirm the details with a licensed professional. Nobody can promise you a certain outcome — including us.

Educational research only

The Cebu Retiree shares educational research about living in Cebu, current as of 2026. We are not immigration lawyers, tax advisors, or financial planners — always confirm specifics with a licensed professional. We don’t sell real estate, and we take no commissions.

That paragraph is the heart of this page. Here is what it means in practice:

  • Visas. Our pages about the SRRV (the Special Resident Retiree’s Visa), tourist visa extensions, and other paths describe the rules as we understand them in 2026. The Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) and the Bureau of Immigration set the actual rules, and rules change. Confirm your own case with them, or with a licensed professional, before you file anything.
  • Taxes and Social Security. How your pension, Social Security, or savings are treated depends on your exact situation. Check SSA.gov and talk to a licensed tax advisor before you decide anything.
  • Healthcare. Our cost figures for hospitals and insurance are estimates built from real 2026 prices. They are not medical or insurance advice. Your coverage depends on your policy and your health.
  • Money and housing. We describe what things cost and how people commonly handle banking and renting. That is research, not financial advice, and not a recommendation to sign anything.

Prices change — treat every number as “as of 2026”

Every price on this site — rents, hospital bills, visa fees, groceries — was checked at publication and is marked with its date. We use an exchange rate of ₱61.5 to $1 (July 2026). Exchange rates move, and local prices move with them. We audit our numbers and update pages with a visible “Last updated” date, but always re-check any number before you commit money to it.

No guarantees

We can’t guarantee outcomes, and we won’t pretend to. We can’t guarantee that you’ll qualify for a visa, or find a certain rent, or be happy living in Cebu. A budget that worked for someone else may not work for you. Your outcome depends on your health, your money, your timing, and your choices. What we can promise is honest research and fixed, published prices for our own help.

Where our numbers come from

We cite sources where possible: the Philippine Retirement Authority for SRRV rules, SSA.gov for Social Security, and PhilHealth for the national health insurance, plus official fee schedules where they exist. When a number comes from our own checking on the ground in Cebu — a market price, a rent quote, a hospital bill — we say so on the page.

Our products

The same frame applies to everything we sell. The guide, the map, the personal plan, and our calls and services are practical research and hands-on logistics help. They are not legal representation, immigration filing services, tax preparation, or financial planning.
